This 65-year-old woman wanted to rejuvenate her appearance without undergoing surgery in the operating room under general anesthetic. Using local anesthesia Dr. Brace performed upper eyelid blepharoplasty surgery to remove the excess upper lid skin and a full face CO2 laser resurfacing to improve her skin tone and texture, smooth her upper lip and tighten the lower lid skin. She is seen 6 months out and looking fantastic and completely herself. CO2 laser is Dr. Brace’s favourite treatment for upper lip ‘smoker’s lines’ as it avoids all the aesthetic complications and distortions associated with fillers.  With CO2 no volume is added to the philtrum and the natural position of the lip is preserved. Filler in this area creates a cat or monkey -like appearance and Dr. Brace instead uses lasers and minor surgical procedures to create natural appearing correction.
